These are a few fragments of practice sessions from around 1968 of Philip playing his then newly purchased, original 1930s National Steel guitar.

Time Will Tell, by J. Howard Duff, 2019
Written by Marvin Coopersmith, Philip Rubin, and The Institution, 1966
This is a remake of the first original song written by The Institution in 1966. It was written by Marvin Coopersmith and Philip Rubin, along with the band, and was recorded in 1967 on Richard Lester's reel-to-reel for submission to Golden Records of LA. They sent a record contract which we foolishly decided not to sign. The original reel to reel recording was lost when Richard passed away. The song haunted Duff for years and he decided to re-record it in 2019 for one of his CD releases, Time Pieces.
This section of the site contains examples of music of The Institution and related performers.
